WORD OF THE DAY: “PROBITY”

pro·bi·ty/ˈprōbitē/

Noun:
The quality of integrity and rectitude.
Synonyms:
authenticity – honesty – justice – sincerity

I live with hope to see the day when respect exceeds malice among the human race; when the strong in wealth, social class and/or spirit do not exploit the poor in wealth, social class and/or spirit; vice-versa. I live with hope to see the day when people realize the Ego is never satisfied – a gormandizer, a glutton for exploitation, ravenously causing war, famine, poverty, inside a person and out, to feed its desire. I live with hope to see the day when man embraces probity in all aspects of life, when love and light overshadows hate and darkness. I live for peace. ~Michelle Maynard-Koenig

PROBITY’S PRIZE

To dissect the truth behind a wholesome tongue,
Is to prolong an epiphany — savory and strong.

It swells in the cheeks and waltzes along the teeth,
Until it reaches the center — in a finale of relief.

Now standing on top of white rimmed ledge,
It jumps outside — soaring over each dread.

Traveling beyond the sight of physical eyes,
Through fear and concern — swiftly it flies.

Into tunnels of shadow where all else failed,
It curls up in corners — prepared to prevail.

Nestled among dreams and old desires lost,
Compassionately it fights — to win at all cost.

Courage is the seed of every smile one bears,
Setting hearts in motion — forgetting despair.

And truth finds it’s wings on the corners of lips,
When good intents meet — within a firm grip.

Our honesty presses on even when we cannot,
Resurrecting the trust — in lives we had forgot.

To dissect the truth behind a wholesome tongue,
Is to prolong an epiphany — savory and strong.
