Maybe Hopefully
by Michelle Maynard Koenig
If you tell her
she is crazy,
she smiles and sighs,
Maybe.
She dances not
with slander and hate,
she is a free spirit
of love and grace.
Marching to the
beat of her own drum,
she lives out loud,
though ostracized by some.
She searches for herself
in all she finds,
admiring diversity
with an open mind.
What is normal,
she asks smiling,
is it conflicts,
lies and fighting?
Is normal hurting others
with malice and strife,
frowns on faces
and fearful eyes?
What about gratitude
and joyful tears?
Is it normal to live
without attentive ears?
Humility and humbleness,
where do they fall
within the world of normalcy
for one and all?
The Universe is seen in her eyes,
the truth within her heart,
she is a living example that
you cannot cage a polestar.
If you tell her
she is crazy,
she smiles and sighs,
Hopefully.
