HOW DO I UNLOVE SOMEONE?

A poem written by writer, poet, inspired soul, Rob Chiasson.

How do I unlove someone?
How do I put out the sun?
How do I unsay the words?
How do I hush the birds?
How do I discover why

the fates make grey my only sky?

How do I unfire the gun?
How do I unlove someone?
How do I stop the pain?
How do I unmake the rain?
How do I unlove someone?
How do I stay one sane?
How do I unwind my brain?
How do I unweep the tears?
How do I unreap the years

of sorrow bringing brand new fears?

How do I unlove someone?
How do I unmake a fate?
How do I make sunset wait?
How do I unsing a song

and make my sorrow not linger long?

How do I unlove someone?
For all the questions I begot

    My only answer, I cannot,

but “How do I unlove someone?”

I love this so much !!!!!!! A question I’ve asked myself at times. You’ve expressed it so beautifully. Did I mention that I love this??

I was just discussing something similar earlier today with the writer and others. I think all human beings find it difficult and painful when it comes to attachment or detachment. Maybe it is part of the human fallibility. The actual writer of this poem is Rob Chiasson and he has written some very raw and soulful pieces that I hope to showcase more of, with his permission.
